FERRUM, Va. -- Director of Athletics Cleive Adams has announced the hiring of Roger Campbell as Head Softball Coach at Ferrum College. Campbell comes to Ferrum College after serving the past 11 seasons as Head Softball Coach at Patrick & Henry Community College, where he built one of the nation's premier NJCAA Division III softball programs.
Over the past 11 seasons, Campbell guided the Lady Patriots to unprecedented success, capturing the 2024 NJCAA Division III National Championship, finishing as National Runner-Up in 2025, and placing fourth at the 2026 NJCAA Division III National Tournament. His teams made multiple national tournament appearances, consistently earned national rankings, and developed numerous NJCAA All-Americans and All-Region selections.
"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Roger Campbell, his wife, and their family to Ferrum College and Panther Nation," Adams said. "Coach Campbell is a proven winner who brings a championship culture, a passion for developing young women, and an unwavering commitment to excellence both on and off the field. His approach to leadership, mentorship, and accountability aligns perfectly with the values of Ferrum Athletics and our '3 Wins' philosophy of winning in life, in the classroom, and in competition. We are confident he will build upon the proud tradition of Ferrum Softball and lead our program back to championship-level success here on 40 West."

Alexis Anderson, who chaired the search committee, echoed Adams' enthusiasm for the hire."Throughout the search process, Coach Campbell consistently demonstrated the qualities we were looking for in our next leader," Anderson said. "His track record of building a successful program and his genuine investment in the growth and development of student-athletes made it clear he was the right fit for Ferrum. I am excited to see the culture he will establish and the lasting impact he will have on our student-athletes, both during their time at Ferrum and long after graduation."
A graduate of Patrick & Henry Community College, Campbell and his wife Faith reside in Stuart, Va. They have nine children together. "I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to become the next Head Softball Coach at Ferrum College," Campbell said. "I want to thank Director of Athletics Cleive Adams, President Mirta Martin,
Alexis Anderson, and everyone involved in the search process for their confidence in me. Ferrum has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence, and I look forward to building a program that competes for championships while developing young women who will be successful in the classroom, on the field, and in life. My family and I are excited to become part of the Ferrum community and Panther Nation."
With Campbell at the helm, Ferrum looks to build upon its proud softball tradition while continuing to develop student-athletes who excel in competition, the classroom, and throughout their lives beyond graduation.
