FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's
Breanna Herlihy has been named Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Player of the Week. She is Ferrum's Player of the Week recipient this fall in any sport.
A junior forward from Frankfort, Illinois, Herlihy scored four goals and assisted on the fifth goal in Ferrum's 5-2 non-conference win over Virginia State University Saturday, September 265, at home.
Herlihy scored her first goal at the 34:30 mark and the two teams were tied 1-1 at the break. Her second goal came at 52:08, and her third was a penalty kick at 57:27. Her fourth goal was at 73:42, then she assisted on
Jaden Hiers' goal at the 78:01 mark.
She is only the second player in school history to notch four or more goals in a single game, and her nine points in a game are second all-time. Herlihy was a Conference Carolinas third team All-Conference selection a year ago.
Ferrum is 2-6 overall and 0-5 in league play thus far. The Panthers return to the pitch Wednesday, Sept. 30, at home against Francis Marion University. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start at Penn-Roediger Field and is the first half of a Conference Carolinas doubleheader. The Ferrum men will then take on the Patriots at 4:30 p.m.
