Justin Franklin had a two-run homer in the third inning as Ferrum College beat Huntingdon College 15-8 Feb. 24 on the road. The Panthers beat the hawks 11-1 to open the season Feb. 23.

Dennis Cauley got the win, pitching an inning and a third in relief. Cauley faced five batters, allowing one hit and no runs. Freshman
Lincoln Garner pitched 4.2 innings to open the game, allowing six hits and four earned runs. Garner fanned three of the 19 batters he faced.
Huntingdon (1-8) got two base hits each from Taylor Files, Brent Blackwell and Kyle Eller. Brent Nichols, who pitched five innings and allowed seven earned runs, absorbed the loss for the Hawks.
Ferrum (2-0) returns to action Feb. 25 at King College in Bristol, Tenn. The Panthers then host Roanoke College Feb. 27 in a non-conference doubleheader before opening USA South Athletic Conference play at home Mar. 1-2 against Averett University. Ferrum has been picked to finish 5th in the seven-team USA South this season under first-year Head Coach Darren Hodges.
