
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Trailing 12-5 heading into the eighth inning, Ferrum College scored 13 runs in the last two innings to take an 18-13 win over Guilford College in non-conference baseball action March 12 on the road.
Junior
Jesse Fuller, and freshmen
Kevin Marshall and
Gabe Moncada each homered for Ferrum in the win. Marshall and Moncada had two-run homers each in the fifth inning, while Fuller had a three-run shot in the eighth. Fuller went 2-5 with three RBI, four runs and two stolen bases.
Senior
Nick Baker went 3-6 with a triple, an RBI and two runs. Freshman
Travis Crump went 3-5 with a double, two stolen bases, and an RBI.
Freshman reliever Brett Haas pitched the final 2.1 innings to earn the win. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits, struck out one and walked two. Sophomore
Brian Mays started the game, pitching 3.2 innings, followed by junior
Dennis Cauley, freshman
William Campbell and then Hass.
Ferrum scored 18 runs off 18 hits and committed two errors. Guilford scored its 13 runs off 14 hits, while committing five errors. The Quakers used eight different pitchers this afternoon.
Ferrum returns to action Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, at home against USA South opponent Greensboro College. Both games begin at 1 p.m.
