FERRUM, Va. -- The Ferrum College baseball team regrouped after a 6-1 loss in the first game to take a 12-11 win in the nightcap of a USA South baseball doubleheader with Methodist University April 8 at home.
Ferrum jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings in the second game, only to see Methodist chip away at the lead and eventually grab an 11-10 lead in the eight inning. The Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the frame.

Jesse Fuller, then
Jason Butterworth singled to drive in
Travis Crump for the winning run.
Patrick Crooks went 2-3 with a lead-off home run in the first inning, three runs, three RBI and a stolen base. Crooks made it on base five times in six plate appearances, three of which he was hit by pitches.
Fuller, Crump, Moncada,
Jason Parker,
Paul Jaglowski,
Kevin Marshall and
Dustin Howell each had a pair of base hits for Ferrum.
Peter Larson earned the win for Ferrum, pitching 1.2 innings in relief, with
Nick Entsminger closing out the game and earning the save.
Brian Inghram and Trey Such each homered for Methodist. Michael Mahaffey got the loss. He was credited with no innings pitched, and was pulled after allowing hits to the only two batters he faced in the eighth inning
In the first game, Dustin Proctor had a solo homer in the eight inning to give the Monarchs a 3-1 lead. Methodist (23-9, 5-3 USA South) would score three more runs in the ninth for a 6-1 win. Elliott Bisplinghoff pitched the first eight innings to get the win. Ferrum was able to get just three hits in that game.
Brian Mays absorbed the loss for Ferrum, pitching the first seven innings.
Ferrum (12-12, 4-6 USA South) plays at home Thursday and Friday, April 8-9, against non-conference opponents Bridgewater College and Lynchburg College. The Bridgewater game Thursday will begin at 7 p.m., while Friday's game against Lynchburg will start at 6 p.m.
