FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College completed the USA South Athletic Conference series sweep with tonight's 10-8 win over Averett University at Panther Field.  The Panthers won at home last night 11-10 over the Cougars.

Brian Mays pitched seven innings to get the win, striking out 10 Cougars.  Jason Butterworth went 2-4 with a double and two runs.

Justin Franklin went 2-3 with two walks, an RBI and two runs for Ferrum tonight.  Franklin keyed Ferrum's win last night over the Cougars with a pair of home runs.

Averett (15-7, 3-3 USA South) got a pair of base hits each from Adam Higgins, Eric Sibrizzi, Michael Moore and James Carter.

Ferrum (11-2, 3-1 USA South) returns to action Tuesday, March 16, at Hampden-Sydney College.  The non-conference game is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia.  The Panthers will be back at home Thursday, March 18, against Lynchburg College at 5 p.m.
