PULASKI, Va. -- The Ferrum College baseball team scored four runs in the first inning and led 7-0 after three en route to a 19-5 shellacking of Emory & Henry College April 19 at Calfee Park.
Justin Franklin went 4-5 with a home run, four runs, two RBI and a pair of walks. Franklin's two-run homer in the fifth was his 14th this season. He now has 61 RBI and an impressive .848 slugging percentage.
Steven Holt hit his first career home run, a solo shot in the top of the ninth. He closed the game at 2-4 with a run and three RBI.
Charles Beacom went 3-6 with a run and four RBI.
Starter
Jon Wilson struck out 11 batters to got the win. He allowed four hits and one earned run over seven innings, and walked two.
Josh Taylor and
Josh Jordan pitched an inning each to close the game out.
Jessup Lambert got the loss for Emory & Henry, allowing six hits and seven earned runs over three innings. Eric Houff and Lee VanLear had a pair of hits each for the Wasps (4-24).
Ferrum (21-13) play at Washington and Lee University Tuesday, April 20. The non-conference game underway at 5 p.m. in Lexington, Virginia.
