FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 11-7 lead, eventually earning a 12-10 non-conference baseball win over Washington and Lee University this afternoon at Panther Field.

The Generals scored two more runs in the seventh inning and one in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 11-10, but the Panthers scored a run in the eighth and held on for the win.

Will Salley went 3-4 with a solo home run to lead off the seventh inning, a double, two runs and three RBI for W&L (15-14). Jody Davis got the loss for W&L, pitching one inning and allowing six earned runs and three walks. He faced the first three batters in the second inning.

Eddie McGrath went 3-4 with a double and two runs for Ferrum (17-19). Grayson Gibson earned the win, pitching three innings in relief. Caleb Dorton was credited with the save after pitching the final two innings and allowing an earned run with one strikeout.

Ferrum returns to action Thursday, May 5, at home against the University of Mary Washington.  The non-conference game gets underway at 3 p.m. at Panther Field.
