Wes Walker went 7-8 in two games with two doubles, four RBI and two runs as Ferrum College swept Averett University 6-2 and 12-6 in a USA South baseball doubleheader this afternoon at home.
Walker went 2-3 in the opener with a double and scored a run. Shortstop
Paul Jaglowski went 1-3 with a double, two runs and two stolen bases, and was struck by a pitch.
Chris Walker pitched a complete 9-inning game to get the win. He allowed four hits, two earned runs and two walks, and struck out seven to improve to 3-2 this season.
In the nightcap, W. Walker went 5-5 with a double, four RBI and a run. Jaglowski went 3-4 with a double, three RBI, four runs and a stolen basen. In two games, Jaglowski went 4-7 with two doubles, three RBI, six runs and three stolen bases.
Starter
Tyler Easterly got the win in the nightcap for Ferrum, pitching five full innings with seven hits, two earned runs, three walks and seven strikeouts.
In two games, James Carter went 4-8 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs for the Cougars (18-13).
Coach Darren Hodges' team will return to the diamond Thursday, March 29, at home against Bridgewater College. The non-conference game gets underway at 7:00 p.m. at Panther Field.
