FERRUM, Va. -- Freshman
Jake Perkins pitched all nine innings and struck out 10 batters as Ferrum College took the third and final game of a USA South Athletic Conference baseball series from Greensboro College this afternoon at Panther Field.
Perkins allowed four hits, two earned runs and a pair of walks to the 33 batters he faced.
Eddie McGrath was a perfect 4-4 at the plate with four RBI, two runs, a stolen base and a sacrifice fly.
Wes Walker went 4-6 with a double, three RBI and three runs.
Matt Reynolds and
Taryn Hayden each had a pair of base hits for the Panthers.
Greensboro starter Harrison Hall absorbed the loss. Hall allowed seven hits and five earned runs over four innings, with four strikeouts for the Pride (4-4, 2-4 USA South).
Ferrum (4-5, 2-4 USA South) returns to action Thursday, Feb. 21, at home against the University of Maine-Presque Isle. The non-conference game gets underway at 4:00 p.m. at Panther Field.
Coach Darren Hodges' team will then face Methodist University at home Saturday, Feb. 23, in a USA South doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. The two teams will close out the three-game league series Sunday, Feb. 24, with a single game starting at 2:00 p.m.
