FERRUM, Va. -- Taryn Hayden's 2-RBI single in the bottom of the third inning drove in the eventual game-winning run as Ferrum College picked up a 7-2 non-conference baseball win over Maine Presque Isle this afternoon at Panther Field.

Hayden went 2-3 with two RBI, while Tyler Faubert pitched the third inning to earn the win.  The Panthers threw eight different pitchers, including starter Chris Walker.  Jeffery Swoope went 2-4 with a pair of runs and Eddie McGrath went 2-4 with a run and an RBI.

Cam Morrell went 2-2 for Maine Presque Isle (1-5).  Andrew Bartlett absorbed the loss for the Owls, allowing eight hits and four earned runs over 5.2 innings.  Jordan Duffy and Justin Bergeron had a base hit each.

Ferrum (5-5) returns to action Sunday and Monday, Feb. 24-25, with a three-game USA South Athletic Conference series at home against Methodist University.  The two teams will play a doubleheader Sunday starting at 12:00 p.m., and play a single game Monday at 1:00 p.m.
