FERRUM -- Ferrum College trailed 5-0 after four and a half innings, but rallied to post a 7-6 non-conference baseball win over Eastern Mennonite University in its season opener this afternoon at Panther Field.
The Royals scored five runs in the second inning. Ferrum exploded for five runs of its own in the fifth inning, starting with an RBI triple by 1B

Eddie McGrath doubled, then scored the winning run when C
Wes Walker drove him in with an RBI double.
McGrath went 3-5 with a double, two RBI and a run for the Panthers (1-0). Walker also went 3-5 with a double, and added a run and an RBI.

Chris Walker to get the win.
Justin Puentes was credited with the save after pitching the ninth inning and allowing no hits and a one unearned run.
Zach Bowels had a pair of base hits for the Royals (2-1). Releiver Chris DeWald absorbed the loss, allowing four hits and three runs (two earned) over the final three and a third innings. Ferrum returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 9, at home against Roanoke College. The non-conference game is set to start at Panther Field.
