FERRUM, Va. -- Southern Virginia University held Ferrum College to just four hits en route to a 5-0 non-conference baseball win tonight at Panther Field. Ed Greenhalgh got the win for the Knights, pitching seven innings with eight strikeouts.
Trager Hintze went 2-4 with three RBI for Southern Virginia (12-7). Ferrum used seven different pitchers, including starter
Chris Walker, who absorbed the loss after pitching the first inning only.
Wes Walker,
Matt Reynolds,
Eddie McGrath and
Taryn Hayden each had one base hit for the Panthers.
Ferrum (10-15) returns to action this weekend with a three-game series against USA South Athletic Conference newcomer Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. The Panthers and Lions are scheduled to play two games Saturday starting at 3:00 p.m. and one game Sundat at 1:00 p.m.
