LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- Ferrum College picked up its first two softball wins of the season with a doubleheader sweep over USA South Athletic Conference newcomer Covenant College this afternoon on the road.
Game one was halted after five innings with the Panthers romping 8-0. In the nightcap, Ferrum jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one inning and closed with a 9-5 victory.
In the opener,
Aiyana Lew went 2-3 with a double, triple, two runs and an RBI.
Emily Taylor pitched all five innings, allowing four hits and striking out five batters.

Chloe Brzycki and Ashley Aamann each had two base hits.
Brzycki had two home runs in the nightcap for Ferrum, a three-run blast in the first inning and a solo shot to open the third. She went 3-4 with four RBI and three runs. Lew,
Miyana Ross and
Lindsey Slover added two base hits each for the Panthers. Ross pitched two innings in relief to get the win. She allowed three hits and an earned run, and walked one.
Ferrum (2-4, 2-2 USA South) will play next on Tuesday, March 4, in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, held in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Coach Vickie Van Kleeck's team, now on Spring Break, will face York (PA) College at 9:30 a.m. to open the day, then plays University of Mount Union at 1:30 p.m. Both games will be played at North Myrtle Beach Park & Sport Complex.
