FERRUM, Va. --
Amanda Roberts pitched all six innings in the opener to get the win as Ferrum College split a USA South doubleheader with North Carolina Wesleyan College this afternoon at Franklin Community Bank Field. Ferrum won the opener 8-0 in six innings before dropping the nightcap 5-4 in eight innings.
Roberts allowed six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in game one.
Karly Thompson and
Chloe Brzycki each had three base hits for the Panthers.
Alicia Eichenlaub,
Aiyana Lew and
Ashley Ammann had two hits each.
Emily Taylor absorbed the loss in game two, pitching all eight innings. She allowed 11 hits, three earned runs and a walk, and struck out two.
Kylene Culler went 3-3 with a double and an RBI, and Eichenlaub had a pair of base hits. Culler combined to go 4-5 in two games with a double, one run and an RBI.
Ferrum (12-6, 8-4 USA South) plays next on Sunday, March 16, to face Averett University. The USA South doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. in Danville, Virginia.
