DANVILLE, Va. -- Amy Hamlett combined to go 4-8 with two doubles, two runs, four RBI and a stolen base as Averett University swept Ferrum College in USA South Athletic Conference softball play this afternoon at Cougar Field. Averett won the opener 9-1, a game halted after six innings, then picked up an 8-5 win.
Amanda Roberts had a pair of base hits, including a third-inning double down the left field line for Ferrum in the opener. Ferrum starter
Emily Taylor struck out five batters. M.B. Smith pitched all six innings to get the win for Averett (17-7, 11-3 USA South).
Hamlett pitched a complete seven-inning game to get the win in the nightcap.
Kylene Culler had a solo home run in the sixth inning of that game for the Panthers.

Ferrum (15-9, 10-6 USA South) returns to action Friday, March 28, at home against #16 Emory University out of Atlanta. The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m. at Franklin Community Bank Field.
