NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Ferrum College won a pair of non-conference softball games this afternoon at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, being held this week at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sport Complex. The Panthers beat York (Pa.) College 8-1, then topped University of Mount Union 4-1.
Against York, Alecia Eichenlaub went 3-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI.
Chloe Brzycki and
Heather Mayberry both went 2-4 with a triple. Mayberry added three RBI and scored a run.
Aiyana Lew earned the win after pitching a complete seven-inning game for the Panthers. She allowed three hits and one earned run, walked three and struck out five.
Amanda Roberts earned the win against Mount Union, pitching a complete seven-inning game. She allowed five hits and one run, walked two and struck out four. Roberts also had an inside-the-park home run for Ferrum in the top of the seventh inning.
The Panthers (4-4) play two more games Wednesday, March 6, in Myrtle Beach before heading back to campus. Coach Vickie Van Kleeck's team faces Lycoming College at 9:30 a.m., then Gwynedd Mercy University at 11:30 a.m.
