FERRUM, Va. --
Jake Perkins pitched a complete game three-hitter to lift Ferrum College to a 4-1 USA South Athletic Conference baseball win over visiting Piedmont College. It was the first of three games to be played between the two schools in as many days at Panther Field.
Perkins, who has thrown two no-hotters this season (Feb. 1 and Mar. 1), allowed no earned runs or walks tonight and struck out seven.
Matt Reynolds went 2-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, while
Adam Duncan,
Lane Deaver,
Hank Parsley,
Eddie McGrath and
Justin Cox had a base hit each.
Matt Lisk pitched all eight innings for Piedmont (22-12, 14-8 USA South), allowing seven hits, two earned runs and a walk, and also striking out seven. Kyle Grabowski had a triple for the Lions. Ferrum (21-15, 17-8 USA South) and Piedmont play again Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
