FERRUM, Va. --
Julianne Bove and
Courtney Hamm had six goals each, and
Shannon Brown had five goals to lead Ferrum College past Randolph College 19-7 in non-conference women's lacrosse action, played this afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field.
Ferrum opened a 6-0 lead off three goals from Bove, two from Hamm and one from Brown less than eight minutes into the game. The Panthers led 9-5 at the break, and poured it on with a 10-2 run in the second half to close out the game. Up 13-7 with 20 minutes left to play, Coach
Karen Harvey's team exploded for six goals to close out the game; three from Brown, two from Hamm and one by Bove. Bove had three assists and Brown had two.
Catie Vance and
Arielle Boyd scored a goal each for the Panthers (3-2), with Vance earning three assists. Goalkeeper
Graceanne Gershner played all 60 minutes in net with three saves. Taylor Klevenz had four goals and Addie Moore had two for the Wildcats (2-2). GK Samantha Fagone played all 60 minutes in net with eight stops.
Ferrum (3-2) returns to action Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15, with a pair of USA South road games. The Panthers will be at Huntingdon College Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama. Harvey's squad will then play at LaGrange College Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in LaGrange, Georgia.
