FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College picked up a 19-10 USA South Athletic Conference women's lacrosse win over Methodist University this afternoon at Penn-Roediger Field.
The Panthers led 3-1 to open the game, but Methodist stormed back with three unanswered goals to go up 4-3. Coach
Karen Harvey's team closed out the first half with an 8-2 run, including three goals by
Courtney Hamm and two by
Julianne Bove, to take an 11-6 lead into the break.
Hamm closed the game with seven goals,
Shannon Brown had five and Bove had four.
Catie Vance, who earned USA South Rookie of the Week honors this past week, had a goal and four assists.
Arielle Boyd added a goal and two assists, and
Kiani Mohica contributed a goal.
Graceanne Gershner played all 60 minutes in net with 10 stops.
The Monarchs (5-3, 0-2 USA South) got four goals from Cassie Walter and two goals each from Hope Motahari and Maddi Ronelli. Emily Ewin also played the entire 60 minutes in net, posting five saves.
Ferrum (6-3, 3-1 USA South) is scheduled to play at Hood College Saturday, March 21. The non-conference game gets underway at 4:00 p.m. in Frederick, Maryland.
