Courtney Hamm had six goals and an assist, and
Shannon Brown had five goals and an assist to lead Ferrum College to a 19-12 non-conference women's lacrosse win over Hood College this afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.
Brown got Ferrum going with a pair of goals in the first few minutes of play. Hood tied the game a few minutes later, only to see the Panthers go on a 7-5 run to close out the first half and take a 9-7 lead into the break. The Panthers used a strong 10-5 run in the second half, a stretch that included six straight goals, to ice the game.
Catie Vance finished with three goals and four assists, while
Kiani Mohica and
Arielle Boyd closed with two goals each. Goalkeeper
Graceanne Gershner played all 60 minutes in net, making eight saves. Taylor McGaughey and Shay Braithwaite had three goals each for the Blaze (1-3), and GK Lauren Coach made 12 stops.
Ferrum (7-3) is back in action Tuesday, March 24, at Shenandoah University. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. in Winchester, Virginia.
