SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Ferrum College erased a four-goal deficit late in the game, scoring the final five goals to secure a thrilling 13-12 non-conference women's lacrosse win over Sweet Briar College this afternoon on the road.
Dayse Gaulin scored back-to-back goals at 14:44 and 13:17 to put the Vixens on top 12-8.
Catie Vance and
Kiani Mohica scored a goal each for the Panthers to trim the lead to 12-10 with 10:25 left to play.
Courtney Hamm then scored three straight, including the game-winner at 5:49.
Hamm closed with four goals and an assist,
Shannon Brown had four goals and two assists, and GK
Graceanne Gershner made five saves. Allison McLamb and Allison Hassard had two goals and an assist each for Sweet Briar (4-5), and GK Emily Williams made three saves.
Ferrum (8-4) has won seven of its last nine games. Coach
Karen Harvey's team returns to action Saturday, March 28, at Meredith College. The USA South Athletic Conference game is set to start at 2:00 p.m. in Raleigh, North Carolina,
