HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- Ferrum College's baseball team fell 1-0 in 10 innings to William Peace University Friday, March 9, at Ting Stadium. The Pacers survived a pitching dual and scored a run in the bottom of the 10th frame to take the first of three games in the USA South Athletic Conference series.

Starter Derek Jackson held Ferrum's bats at bay, allowing no hits through nine innings. The Panthers got a base hit each from
Tim Ortega and
Garrett Dorton to open the 10th, but William Peace's Ben Brann shut it down by striking out the next three batters. WPU's Justin Torres led off the bottom of the 10th with a walk, then stole second. Ferrum intentionally walked two hitters to load the bases with one out, and the game ended when Kyle Cranmer was hit by a pitch. Starter
