FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a non-conference baseball game tonight at home to Washington and Lee University, falling 9-5 at Panther Field. Prior to the game, the Panthers honored seven graduating players with a special Senior Night ceremony.

THE BASICS
Washington and Lee exploded for seven runs in the second inning and held on for the win. The Panthers chipped away at the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second, one in the third and two in the seventh. Paul Diven added a pinch-hit solo homer in the eighth inning for the Generals. Mason Shuffler (1-4) pitched an inning in relief to get the win, allowing two hits and an earned run.
Jake Martin went 3-4 with an RBI for the Panthers, while
Garrett Dorton and
Nathaniel Anthony each had a pair of base hits. Starter
Sam Suite (1-2) absorbed the loss after allowing seven hits and five earned runs over two innings.
SENIOR SEND-OFF
Tonight's pre-game Senior Night ceremony honored

Christian Mosier,
Sam Suite,
Brandon Turner and
Brandon West. The Panthers and coaching staff wish these seven players well as they graduate in May and begin their careers.

Ryan Brittle's squad will be back in action Wednesday and Thursday, April 18-19, with a pair of non-conference games. The Panthers take on Lynchburg College Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m., then host Hampden-Sydney College Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
