FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College beat LaGrange College in the third and final game of the USA South Athletic Conference baseball series at home, posting an 8-7 comeback win this afternoon at W.B. Adams Stadium. The two teams split Friday, with Ferrum winning the opener 8-3 and LaGrange taking the nightcap 5-2.

THE BASICS
LaGrange scored five runs in the first inning, but Ferrum scored a run each in the first, second and third to cut into the lead. The Panthers struck for four runs in the fifth inning, then scored the game winning run in the sixth when
Dominick Claxton singled, moved to third on
Garrett Dorton's single, and scored on a throwing error by the right fielder. Dorton went 3-4 with a first-inning solo home run, two runs and an RBI, Claxton went 3-5 with three runs, and
Jake Martin added a solo homer in the second inning. Starter
Colby Grissom (1-2) pitched five innings to get the win. Tanner Chafin (0-1) absorbed the loss for LaGrange after tossing 1.2 innings in relief.
GEORGIA BOUND
By taking two of three games this weekend, Coach
Ryan Brittle's team played itself into the #3 seed for next week's USA South Tournament. Ferrum will face #6 seed LaGrange Wednesday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m. at Skyhawk Field (Point University) in West Point, Georgia. The complete tournament schedule is listed below.
