BUENA VISTA, Virginia -- The Ferrum College baseball team dropped a non-conference game n the latter innings this afternoon against Southern Virginia University, falling 11-8 at Parry McCluer High School.

THE BASICS
Josh Greenway got things started for the Panthers in the visiting half of the second with a solo blast. Christian Campbell would continue with a single up the middle, scoring Grayson Chitwood and Isaac Yeaman and Ferrum would take the early 3-0 lead.
The Knights would answer in their half of the third inning when Brandy Lamb scored from a Cole Critchfield ground out to second. Bridger Taylor would follow up with a two-run double to right field, scoring Koby Hill and Jonny Soto. The big Southern Virginia inning would be capped off with a Colby Anderson double, bringing Taylor around to score.
Ferrum would retake the lead in the fourth when Kyle Anstice singled to center, scoring Chitwood and Ozzie Torres. Grey Sherfey would continue the Panther rally by scoring Campbell on a ground ball to the shortstop. Anstice would then crossed the plate via a wild pitch. Sherfey rounded out the scoring from a ground ball to third from the bat of Tim Ortega, and the Panthers held a 7-4 lead.
Southern Virginia would then run off seven unanswered runs, including a grand slam from Cole Campanile in the top of the fifth inning. Taylor shut the door on the Panthers with a single to center as Soto and Critchfield would come across to score in the bottom of the eighth.
