FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's baseball team won for the third time in as many days with a 16-6 non-conference win over Alfred State this afternoon at Panther Field.

THE BASICS
Alfred State lit up the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the first inning. Ferrum answered with three in the second inning, including two off Isaac Yeaman's RBI double to left center, and the Panthers took a lead they would never relinquish.
Kyle Anstice tripled to right center in the third inning to allow Josh Greenway to cross the plate, then Anstice scored on a wild pitch to make it a 5-1 game after three full innings.
The Pioneers added a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning, courtesy of Collin Johnson's homer to left that smacked the top of Ferrum scoreboard and the lead was down to 5-3. Ferrum answered with a run in the bottom half of the frame on Darden Eure-Parrish's RBI single to score Connor Dopp. Anstice then belted a solo homer to left field in the fifth inning to extend Ferrum's lead to 10-4.
Alfred State added a run in the top of the sixth, but Ferrum again had an answer in the bottom of the inning, with RBI singles from Dopp and Tim Ortega and a sac fly by Ozzie Torres.
The teams traded runs in the seventh inning, Ferrum's on Dopp's RBI double to left center. Alfred State added a run in the eighth before Ferrum exploded for five runs in the bottom of the inning. Ortega homered to left field to drive in a pair of runs, Greenway had a solo shot to left, Grey Sherfey scored on a wild pitch and Greg White crossed the plate on a fielding error.

Brittle's bunch will host Montclair State University out of New Jersey Friday through Sunday, February 28 through March 1, in a four-game home series. The two teams will play a single Friday at 3:30 p.m., a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon, then a single game Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
