FERRUM, Virginia -- Ferrum College brought across a run in the home half of the sixth inning with a Kyle Anstice single into left field, and that proved to be the difference. Ty Lam came on in relief in the fifth and held the Red Hawks at bay the rest of the way, as the Panthers hung on to win the series finale Sunday afternoon, 6-5 at Panther Field.

THE BASICS
Montclair State got things started in the first when Austin Ollwerther singled to left center, scoring Brody Labbe. Ferrum would answer right back in the home half of the inning as Josh Greenway roped a double to center, scoring Grey Sherfey.
The Panthers would add two more in the third inning, first with a double-play ball that resulted in a run as Anstice came across to score on the play. Connor Dopp would cap off the inning with an RBI-single to right center field, bringing around Sherfey to score for the second time in the game.
Ferrum would extend the lead to 5-1 in the bottom frame of the fourth with a sac fly from the bat of Anstice, bringing Matt Yarbrough across to score. Tim Ortega would follow that up with a single up the middle as Darden Eure-Parrish would cross the plate.
The Red Hawks would knot the game up at five apiece with an explosive fifth inning, plating four runs in the frame. Things got started with a Carlton Redd balk, bringing home Miles Feaster. Peter Cosentino would then use a sac fly to score Labbe and Ollwerther would follow that up with a solo blast over the left field fence. Hayden Reyes would cap the inning off with a single into right center, scoring Christopher Walker.
Anstice would call game in the home-half of the sixth inning to answer, bringing home Isaac Yeaman on a single into left field. The Yeaman run proved to be the difference as Lam shut the door on the Red Hawks, pitching 4.1 innings and only surrendering one run to pick up the win.
