Box Score 2 HARRISONBURG, Virginia -- Ferrum College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader today at Eastern Mennonite University, winning the opener 12-3 and losing the nightcap 12-6 at EMU Baseball Field.

GAME 1
Ferrum scored two runs in the first inning of the opener on Rufus Hurdle's 2-RBI single to center field. Hurdle's RBI single to right in the sixth made the lead 3-0, then the Panthers exploded for seven runs in the eighth, including a 3-RBI double by Benjamin Thomas.
Clayton Michael's 2-RBI single in the ninth accounted for the rest of Ferrum's scoring. Starter Will Davis pitched seven strong innings to get the win, allowing three hits, no runs and three walks with six strikeouts.
Game 2
In game two, Jackson Horton's sacrifice fly to center field in the top of the second inning pushed Ferrum's first run across the plate and tied the game at 1-1. EMU scored a run in the third inning, two in the fourth, three in the seventh inning and five in the eighth to blow it open. The Panthers were able to scratch out five runs in the ninth inning, including a 2-RBI double by Matt Yarbrough. Starter Carlton Redd was saddled with the loss after pitching six innings with five hits, four earned runs, three walks and five strikeouts.
KEY STATS
Hurdle was a combined 5-7 with a double, a run and four RBI for the Panthers over two games. Will Davis (W, 2-1) pitched seven innings to get the win in the opener. EMU's Jaylon Lee was a combined 4-7 with a double, a run, three RBI and a sac fly. Starter John Judy (W, 1-1) pitched six frames to get the nightcap win, allowing five hits, one earned run and one walk with seven strikeouts.
