Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Virginia -- Ferrum College dropped a pair of non-conference baseball games to University of Lynchburg, falling 9-4 and 17-3 in eight innings this afternoon at Fox Field.

GAME 1
Ferrum opened with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning on Isaac Yeaman's 2-RBI single up the middle. Lynchburg came back to score one in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth to grab an 8-2 lead.
Ferrum added a run in the seventh frame when Torres reached on an error and Benjamin Thomas crossed the plate. Torres closed the game 2-5 with a double and two runs for Ferrum.
Starter Will Davis (L, 0-1) picked up the loss after pitching four innings and allowing five hits, seven earned runs and three walks, while striking out four. Zack Potts (W, 1-0) pitched five innings in relief to get the win. He allowed three runs, no earned runs and no walks, with nine strikeouts.
GAME 2
Lynchburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead after an inning, including Avery Neaves' three-run homer to left field. The Hornets then added five runs in the second inning to break it open.
Rufus Hurdle's double down the right field line and Josh Greenway's single each scored a run for Ferrum in the third inning. Thomas' groundout to the pitcher in the fourth inning drove in Ferrum's other run.
Carlton Redd (L, 1-1) pitched two thirds of an inning to get the loss, allowing two hits, four earned runs and three walks. Starter Brandon Pond (W, 1-2) pitched six frames to get the win, striking out seven.

Coach Ryan Brittle's team will be back on the diamond Tuesday, March 9, at Averett University. The non-conference game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. in Danville, Virginia.
