THE BASICS
Roanoke College took control early in the first frame after holding the Panthers to nothing in the top half of the inning.Butler got the scoring started as he reached on a Panther miscue with the bases loaded, scoring Mason Staz. Jonny Wall would then follow that up with a single to left field, scoring Will Merriken and Carter Plunkett. Cale Agee would pick up a 2-RBI two-bagger and Will Smith capped the inning off with a single to center, scoring Agee.

The Panthers would get on the board in the visiting half of the second frame as Blake Boggs brought Bryce Thacker around to score on a double to left field. Ferrum would claw one more back in the third when Josh Greenway was credited with a sacrifice fly that allowed Ozzie Torres to score, and the Panthers would trail 6-2 through three complete.

Plunkett would then come up big for the Maroons again as a double to left field scored Staz and Tyler De Meo and extended the Roanoke advantage to 8-2. Ferrum would be the next to score in the sixth inning when Thacker grounded out to third allowing Ben Thomas to come around and score.

The eighth inning was a busy inning for both sides. The Panthers would put up four in their half of the inning as singles by Thomas and Justin Brady scored Greenway and Matt Yarbrough. Ferrum would get one back off of a Maroon miscue, and the outburst was capped off with a Clayton Michael ground out to the pitcher, scoring Brady, and the lead was cut to just 8-6.

Roanoke would answer the call in their half of the inning, as a Smith single and a Staz double was good enough for two runs and a Merriken ground out to the pitcher would score Staz and put it out of reach at 11-7.
