Box Score FERRUM, Virginia -- The Ferrum College baseball team fell to the Bridgewater College Eagles in a mid-week Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest, 13-10 at Panther Field.

THE BASICS
Bridgewater got out to the early advantage in this one as the Eagles a run in the first inning, two in the second inning and two in the third. Kevin Navero brought Brett Tharp around to score on a two-out double in the first inning. The second frame saw Kyle Carlson score on a single and a sacrifice fly, and Brandan Hartman's single up the middle added two more in the third.
The Panthers would claw their way back into it in the home half of the third and fourth innings. Matt Yarbrough singled up the middle to score Grey Sherfey and Rufus Hurdle in the third, then Grayson Chitwood singled up the middle to bring Justin Brady around to score in the fourth.
The sixth inning proved to be the difference though, as Bridgewater added eight runs in their half of the inning. A combination of walks and timely hits by the Eagle offense led to the outburst and all but put it out of reach.
Brady added a little noise in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot to right field and sparked a three-run seventh, and a two-run eighth to make it a 13-10 ball game. The Panthers had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth with Chitwood at the plate representing the winning run, but Tucker Hrasky came up with a big strikeout to shut the door on the Ferrum comeback bid.
