FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College dropped a 5-2 decision to Chowan University in a Conference Carolinas men's tennis match Wednesday, March 18, at the Burrows Tennis Courts.

THE BASICS
Chowan took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Marcel Ungerboeck and Tadeo Missan opened with a 6-3 win over
Emanuel Ferreira and
Tobi Teller at No. 1. The Hawks followed with a 7-5 victory at No. 2 from David De Simon and Terumasa Inoue against
Brian Karenzi and
Sebastian Ondas, and completed the sweep at No. 3 as Thales Sette and Tadeo Sanchez defeated
Emilio Munguia and
Omar Martinez, 6-3.
In singles play, Chowan secured four of six matches to seal the team victory. Ungerboeck earned a hard-fought three-set win over Ferreira at No. 1, 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3. The Hawks also picked up straight-set wins at No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 to build their advantage.
Ferrum's two points came from strong performances by
Sebastian Ondas and
Emilio Munguia. Ondas posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Thales Sette at No. 2, while Munguia battled to a 7-5, 7-5 victory against Terumasa Inoue at No. 4. Despite the effort by the Pantherss, Chowan's depth proved decisive as it closed out the match with wins across four singles positions.
