BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Sophomore Tyler Lee and freshman Eddy Funes scored an 8-6 win at #3 doubles, but #6 seed Ferrum College fell 8-1 to #3 Averett University in the quarterfinal round of the 2012 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament.

The Panthers closed out the season with the loss.  Averett advances to the semifinals Saturday at 2 p.m. against #2 Christopher Newport University.  The other semifinals will see toop seeded North Carolina Wesleyan College facing #4 Methodist University.

The semifinal winners will compete Sunday's championship at 10 a.m.  At stake is the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
