DANVILLE, Va. -- Ferrum College picked up its first-ever men's tennis win over Averett University, wining 7-2 in USA South Athletic Conference action this afternoon on the road. The Panthers opened the day by sweeping all three doubles matches from the Cougars (1-11, 1-7 USA South), then took four singles matches.
Christopher Miller and
Connor Moncure won at #1 doubles,
Michael Marsh and
Taylor Napier at #2, and
William Sharp and
Tyler Lee at #3. Marsh, Napier, Sharp and Lee all won in singles at the #3, #4, #5 and #6 spots, respectively.
Ferrum (3-10, 3-5 USA South) will be at Hampden-Sydney College Monday, April 8, at 3:30 p.m. The Panthers return home for a match Wednesday, April 10, against Randolph College at 4 p.m. Both are non-conference matches.
Coach Jordon Robinson's team will be the #6 seed in next weekend's USA South Tournament, to be held Friday through Sunday, April 12-14, at North Carolina Wesleyan College. Ferrum faces #3 Methodist University Friday at 9:00 a.m.
