Tennis Teams Split with Guilford

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College split a non-conference tennis doubleheader with Guilford College this afternoon at home, winning the women's match 9-0 and losing the men's match 9-0 at the Burrows-Skeens Tennis Courts.

THE BASICS
Ferrum jumped out to a quick lead 3-0 lead in the women's match by sweeping all three doubles matches, then completed the rout by taking all six singles matches in straight sets. Winning at #1-6 singles in order were Morgan Scott, Alexandria White, Alexandria Dixon, Autum Murray-Burns, Hailee Green and Nikeyra Lee. Winning in doubles were Scott and Dixon at the #1 spot, Murray-Burns and White at #2, and Green and Vicki Meza at #3. The scoresheet was flipped in the men's match, with the Quakers taking all three doubles and all six singles matches.

COACH'S THOUGHTS
"Even though we lost the men's match, everyone continues to improve and I'm happy with the effort," said Coach Rod Baker. "In the women's match, everyone stepped up and we had a great match."

BACK ON COURT
Baker's teams will be back in action Wednesday, March 21, on the road against Pfeiffer University. The non-conference doubleheader is set for a 2:00 p.m. start in Misenheimer, North Carolina.
