Flag Football Closes Season with Semifinal Loss in Florida

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Ferrum College's women's flag football team closed the season Friday, May 8, with a 38-35 semifinal loss to Alabama State University in the 2026 Women's Flag Finals at IMG Stadium.

FLAG FOOTBALL FINALS
Ferrum opened the tournament with a 46-0 win over Hendrix College Thursday morning, May 7, then beat Alabama State 35-0 later in the day. Both games were in pool play. Then in Friday's semifinal, the Panthers led Alabama State 21-20 at halftime, but were outscored 18-14 in the second half for the loss. 

SEASON FINALE
With the loss, Coach Garrett Roth's team wraps up the year with an impressive 19-5 overall record in Ferrum 's inaugural season of flag football. One player graduates this year, while another 20 players are eligible to return for the 2027 season.

CONFERENCE TITLE
Ferrum won a share of the Conference Carolinas regular season title and finished runner-up in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The title was the first team conference championship for Ferrum in any sport since the men's wrestling team claimed its fifth straight Southeast Wrestling Conference Tournament in 2020.
