FERRUM, Va. -- Director of Athletics Cleive Adams has announced the hiring of Gaspar Ramos as Assistant Flag Football Coach at Ferrum College. Ramos will work with second-year Head Coach
Garrett Roth, who led Ferrum to a share of the 2026 Conference Carolinas regular season title and a runner-up finish in the league's postseason tournament.
Ramos brings a diverse background in flag football administration, operations, and event management to Ferrum. Since 2020, he has served as Administrative & Operations Coordinator and Co-Owner of Saints Flag Football Academy in Panama, where he has overseen the academy's daily operations, coordinated athlete registrations, managed communications with parents and staff, supervised operational responsibilities, and implemented process improvements to enhance the overall participant experience.
Most recently, Ramos competed in the World Flag Football Championship 2026 on Dusseldorf, Germany.
In 2026, Ramos served as Sport Manager – Technical Operations for the South American Youth Games with the Panama Olympic Committee. In that role, he coordinated the operational execution of a sport during the international multi-sport event, serving as the primary liaison between sports federations, officials, vendors, and event personnel while overseeing venue readiness, equipment, scheduling, and technical operations.
Ramos also gained administrative and organizational experience as Administrative & Activities Coordinator at Oxford International School in Panama, where he coordinated institutional and extracurricular programs while supporting event logistics, transportation, and communication with students, parents, faculty, and staff. He previously served as an Administrative & Project Management Assistant at Universidad Interamericana de Puebla in Mexico, assisting with institutional projects, administrative operations, purchasing, vendor coordination, and customer service.
"We are very excited about the addition of Gaspar Ramos, our new assistant coach and offensive coordinator," said Roth. "He brings years of club and international experience coaching and playing in some of the biggest tournaments in flag football. Gaspar is really going to help us continue to key in on two of our biggest strengths, talent development and recruiting. Panama is one of the best flag football countries around, and we are very thrilled to be able to potentially open up that pipeline."
A native of Panama, Ramos earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and international business from Universidad Interamericana de Puebla in 2024. He also completed the English Language Program at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas, as an exchange student and is a 2016 graduate of Instituto Panamericano in Panama City.
