Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Ferrum three seasons from 1964-67 * Posted a 71-15 record at Ferrum * Won three Cavalier Tarheel Conference titles and was named Coach of the Year three times * Won three Region X titles and advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament all three seasons * Served a year as Dean of Students at Ferrum * Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Virginia Tech three seasons from 1967-70 * Head Men’s Basketball Coach five and a half seasons at Western Carolina University * Led WCU to two NAIA District 6 regular-season titles and one tournament championship * WCU advanced to the 1972 NAIA Championship Tournament * Western Carolina’s 1970-71 team compiled a 25-5 record and a winning percentage of .833 * After leaving Western Carolina, he and his wife Jean bought a historic inn and restaurant in 1975, The Jarrett House, located in Dillsboro, North Carolina, which they owned and operated with their sons for 40 years * Also coached men's basketball at Cherokee High School on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in the early 2000s and later returned as assistant head coach to the varsity women's basketball team from 2013-18 * Inducted into Western Carolina University's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000 and Salem (West Virginia) College's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004
