Four-year player and three-year starter for Ferrum men’s basketball team from 1989-93 … played strong forward position and was voted by his teammates as Team Most Valuable Player and three-time Defensive Player of the Year … Helped Ferrum win two USA South conference titles … Helped Ferrum win 1992 USA South Tournament title and advance to second round of NCAA Division III Tournament … Began coaching career with Coach Bill Pullen in the fall of 1993, helped team win one more conference title … Went on to spent a year on coaching staff at Hargrave Military Academy’s post-graduate team … Went on to assistant coach position at Old Dominion University, helped guide Monarchs to 25-9 season in 1998, second round of NIT Tournament … Spent two years as assistant coach at Elon University … Assistant coach at College of Charleston, helped Cougars win Great Alaska Shootout, Southern Conference title, NIT second round and finish with 25-8 record … Spent two years at Penn State University, recruiting coordinator … Joined George Mason University, in two years helped Patriots go 45-23 and make legendary run by advancing to the 2006 NCAA Final Four … In summer of 2007, was hired by ACC’s Virginia Tech … In 2001, was selected as one of the top 20 Assistant Basketball Coaches at Mid-Major Division I schools … Member of National Basketball Coaches Association and Black Coaches Association.
