Played Ferrum baseball and basketball for two years. Second leading scorer in basketball sophomore year. Went from Ferrum to Lynchburg College to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Head basketball coach of Floyd County High School, where he also served as Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Head Track Coach 1964 District VI Champions at Floyd County High School in basketball, track, and golf, 1968 Basketball Runner – Up District Champions at Liberty, 1968 State Runner - Up in golf at Liberty High School. Named Head Basketball Coach at Lord Botetourt in 1976 compiled a win/lost record of 255-169. Led Lord Botetourt Cavaliers to eight district championships, made 11 trips to regional tournaments, and twice played in Group AA state basketball tournaments. Earned 300th victory December 1991, finished career with over 340 wins. Honored by Senate of Virginia for coaching achievements, active in a variety of civic and community organizations.
