Named MVP in both football and baseball in 1966 at Ferrum. Starting fullback, punter and co-captain of the 1965 National Championship team. Starting catcher and captain of the baseball team. Member of the Cavalier-Tarheel championship baseball team. Coached football and baseball at Grenada High School team in Mississippi and helped the football team win its first-ever bowl game. Returned to Ferrum College to be the head baseball coach and defensive coordinator for the football team. Saw two national football championships in 1974 and 1977 during his coaching career at Ferrum, becoming the only person to both play in and coach a national championship football team for the Panthers. Went on to coach at William Fleming High School and Cave Spring High School. Currently athletics director of Franklin County schools and a community volunteer with youth and recreation programs county-wide.
