All-Conference and leading hitter for the 1976 and 1977 Ferrum baseball teams. Named Ferrum College first team All-American in 1977. Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in recreation administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also played baseball. Played second base and shortstop with the Seattle Mariners from 1979-1982. Coached one year for the Seattle Mariners before becoming a scout. Scouted for the Cleveland Indians before joining the staff of the Atlanta Braves. Member of the 1995 World Series Champion Atlanta Braves.  He worked for the Atlanta Braves for 20 years. Atlanta promoted him to scouting director in 1999. He stepped down from that post in October 2009 to join the Washington Nationals. He was an assistant general manager and vice president of player personnel for Washington. Clark is currently a senior advisor for the Kansas City Royals after a lengthy career in scouting and the front office with six different organizations. Served as a volunteer consultant for the Martinsville-Henry County youth baseball programs. Member of the Martinsville Recreation Association. Little League parent.
