Hall of Fame
Mickey was a member of the Ferrum College basketball team from 1978-1980. He was co-captain of the 1978 basketball team. He was recognized as the fifth leading scorer in the nation in 1978. That same year he was named most valuable player and made the All Region Ten Team and again 1979. He received All-American Honorable Mention in 1979. He graduated from Ferrum College with an associate of science degree. He then received a bachelor of science degree in physical education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Radford University. Mickey coaches AAU basketball for kids under fifteen. He currently serves as counselor and recreation coordinator for the Roanoke Juvenile Detention Center and as an assistant basketball coach at William Fleming High School.Â
