Named co-captain for both Ferrum football and baseball. Named National Junior College All-American 1957-1958. Led the baseball team in batting and home runs. All-Conference football player at Emory & Henry. Earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Emory & Henry College, a master’s degree in education from the University of Virginia, and his doctorate in education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Returned to Ferrum College as Dean of Student Affairs and assistant football coach from 1969-1971. Active in a variety of community organizations including Rotary Club, Wintergreen Valley Association, Little League Football, and Babe Ruth Baseball. Named Man of the Year for Prince William County and Manassas in 1987. Active volunteer in his church, local elementary school, retirement homes, and hospitals. Named High School Football Coach of the Year at Alleghany County High School in 1964 and at Edison High School in 1967. Currently serves as Director of Risk Management for the Virginia School Board Association.Â
